The National Museum of Australia in Canberra

Garden of Australian Dreams

The National Museum of Australia was designed by architects Ashton Raggatt McDougall and Robert Peck von Hartel Trethowan, who won an international design competition in 1997. The building’s non-traditional, postmodern structure reflects the diversity of the Australian experience.

The Museum's central Garden of Australian Dreams weaves together elements that identify place and country, creating a rich landscape of symbols and meanings.
