Steering mechanism

This department produced forged metal parts for agricultural implements. Blacksmiths heated metals in furnaces, then shaped them by hand, using a hammer and anvil, or with a mechanical hammer or press.

During peak production up to 70 or 80 furnaces would be fired at once, making it an extremely hot place to work.
