Humphrey No. 28: ‘A piece of thick bark Cloth, one side white, the other dark coloured, striped with a Chocolate Colour, from ditto [Sandwich Islands].’
The barkcloth is thick and consists of two pieces pasted together. One of the pieces is brown, the other white with watermark lines visible. The two pieces are made from different plants. Inken Köhler
