This is a professionally produced, sawn, brass gorget decorated with an emu and a kangaroo beside a xanthorrhoea and a tree which were placed as bearers for the inscription. The style of decoration is simple but not crude and the plate is technically well produced.
The evidence of wear in the suspension holes indicates that this gorget was often used. Gongolgon is on the Bogan River, New South Wales. However, no information about Tommy has been discovered.
