Allegations of waste also plagued the government’s Building the Education Revolution program. The government briefly regained the initiative with a major proposal for health care reform, but faced criticism on other fronts, including immigration policy, border control and the implementation of the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy tests in schools.
Australia’s involvement in Afghanistan also continued to attract the attention of cartoonists.
