The Museum’s Acceptance of gifts and benefits policy recommends that, as a general principle, Museum employees should not accept gifts or benefits that might be seen to compromise their integrity.

The policy accepts that minor gift giving and the acceptance of hospitality is normal business practice and that there are circumstances in which refusal can cause offence. Employees are required to declare the receipt of gifts or benefits, with details to be included in the Museum’s gift and benefits register. Donations made to the Museum for its fundraising or collecting activities are not intended to be covered by the policy.

All gifts or benefits accepted that are valued over $100 (excluding GST) will be publicly disclosed on the Museum’s website, in accordance with the Australian Public Service Commission’s Guidance for Agency Heads on Gifts and Benefits. The gifts and benefits register must be published quarterly by and 31 January, 30 April, 31 July and 30 October each year.
