Happy 100th birthday, Canberra! Last week the National Museum opened its centenary tribute exhibition, Glorious Days: Australia 1913, which is a wonderful assemblage of the optimism of adolescent Australia just prior to World War I.
Above are photos of the event we hosted to introduce teachers to the exhibition and the school programs we’re running in association with Canberra’s centenary:
- Canberra’s History: Site Study
- Meet Walter Burley Griffin
- Canberra: A Capital Story – this program includes free entry to the exhibition
Our available slots for programs are fast filling up, so we suggest you request a booking sooner rather than later.

Just wondering what the publicity was like for the Teachers event? I am a teacher at St Clare’s College, and we did not hear about it.
I also joined this blog to hear about these events as they come up. Sorry to hear I have missed out.
Please advise who you send the information re teachers events to?
Thank you, Anne Plowman
this was a great event, thank you for the organizers. Had a great time.
Anne, I’m so sorry that you missed out. Next time I will ensure that blog subscribers are invited. We do also notify every local school of exhibition preview events, and publicise them via the ACT Ed Dept website, but understand that the information doesn’t make it to everyone that wants it.
