Some weeks ago I started my internship here in the Education section at the National Museum of Australia. Originally I wanted to work as an volunteer, but when the internship was offered to me I just wanted to do that even more. However, on my first day I met Cath and she pointed out that my job would be to help her organise all the learning resources for the new website and build it up with her! That was quite awkward for me, regarding the fact that I am not trained in any IT stuff.
So I was surprised and astonished by the fact that Cath trusted me so much. However, it was great to face a new challenge after all! Now I got to say that it all turned out very positively! I produced a lot of pages for the new website and it was quite fun doing that! Additionally, it was great to learn new things. Moreover, it was great to see the new Education Officers arrive, play Sembl (and discuss it), having been guided through the exhibition by Deb etc. At the same time there were some sad moments when three ladies left this section, they were really lovely and interesting people and I would have loved working with them some more time.
So in two weeks I will head back to Germany. All in all, it was just a great experience for me to meet all the wonderful people, not only in this section but also in the other parts of the museum! Everyone was always friendly and great help! It is a great place to work at and I wish I could stay some more time – but unfortunately I got to get back to finish my Masters at uni… However, I’ll be back a.s.a.p.! So thank you again for this great opportunity and all the support and fun we had together!
Cath: You were just most supportive and trusting from the first time we met, I really appreciate that!
Ange: You are always fun and optimistic and you always reminded me of how lazy I am, thanks for that ;)
Deb: I really appreciate that you shared your story with me! It was so much fun to work with you, you are a lovely person!
Eris: You are a very nice person and it was always delightful to chat to you!
Dave: I really enjoyed singing Nena-songs with you and love the way you are managing the section! You are really supportive and encouraging!
Jess, Susannah and Linda: Very fortunate that I met you, I really enjoyed spending time with you! All the best for you! And Linda, you are just the most funny and warm-hearted person!
Marie-Ann, Veronika and Susanna: Unfortunately I didn’t get to know you too well but you are all very lovely and I hope you’ll enjoy working here as much as I did!
Helen, Fiona and Angela helped me a lot finding my way through the HTML jungle, thanks a lot for that!!!
Warmly,
Kristina
[...] It’s been a world of change in Education over the last little while – so much so we’ve considered installing revolving doors. We’ve farewelled Claudette, Lyn, Trish, Dawn, Linda, Jess, Susannah (and Kristina)… [...]
