Last week was the launch of Behind the Lines exhibition and as part of that, the awards ceremony for Drawing the Lines, the student cartooning competition. What fun – almost all the winners were there, as were two pro cartoonists, Jon Kudelka and David Pope. (As part of the same event, Jon received the Museum’s award for greatest contribution to cartooning in 2010; and David Pope, judge of the student competition, was recently named Cartoonist of the Year by the Australian Cartoonists Association. So: acclaim all round!)
In case you missed it, here are the cartoons that won these talented young people their loot. And in case you doubted it for a second: word on the street is that an iPad is a pretty good prize ;-) Congratulations, all, and it was lovely to spend a bit of time with you.
No guarantees yet, but we hope to run the competition again next year, so spread the word and stay tuned for details of if, when and how to enter.

This was a wonderful event and really appreciated by the winners and their families :) We are really looking forward to the additional photos.
Good to hear, Karen! I was feeling the joy, too – as you can see from the second of three photos I’ve now added above.
