Moreton Bay bignonia

I finished painting my beautiful blue flower today — it is a lovely thing, I mean my flower, not my painting. I must get some roots of it to plant in the garden. I admire it quite as much as some of the cultivated bulbs already there.

Moreton Bay bignonia, bower of beauty, bower vine

The Moreton Bay bignonia likes rich, moist conditions and is found in north-eastern Australia. It is one of six species of Pandorea native to Australia and Indonesia. This plant takes its scientific name from Pandora of Greek mythology. Just as Pandora opened her box, releasing misfortunes along with hope, the flower opens and releases many seeds.
